Exodus 31:12-18

Chapter 31
12 The LORD said to Moses, 13 "You, speak to the sons of Israel, saying: 'Surely you shall keep my Sabbaths, for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.'" 14 And you shall keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. Its profaners—death shall be put to them; for everyone doing work in it, the nephesh of that one shall be cut off from the midst of his people. 15 Six days work shall be done, and on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD. Everyone doing work on the day of the Sabbath, death shall be put to death. 16 The sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant. 17 It is a sign forever between me and the sons of Israel. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. 18 And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
