The Call of Abram

Genesis 12:1-9

12
Chapter 12
1 And the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your land and from your birthplace and from your father's house to the land that I will show you." 2 And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 And I will bless those who bless you and curse the one who curses you, and all the families of the ground will be blessed in you. 4 And Abram went just as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him, and Abram was seventy-five years old when he went out from Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had acquired, and the souls they had gotten in Haran. And they went out to go into the land of Canaan, and they came to the land of Canaan. 6 And Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 And the LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your seed I will give this land," and he built there an altar to the LORD who had appeared to him. 8 He moved from there to the hill country on the east side of Bethel and pitched his tent—Bethel to the west and Ai to the east. He built an altar there to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD. 9 And Abram journeyed, going on toward the Negev.
