Genesis 29:1-14

Chapter 29
1 And Jacob lifted up his feet and went to the land of the sons of the east. 2 And he saw, and behold, a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep lying down beside it, for from that well they water the flocks, and the stone is large on the mouth of the well. 3 All the flocks gathered there, and they rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered the sheep. Then they returned the stone to its place on the mouth of the well. 4 Jacob said to them, "My brothers, where are you from?" They said, "We are from Haran." 5 He said to them, "Do you know Laban son of Nahor?" And they said, "We know." 6 He said to them, "Is he well?" They said, "He is well." And behold, Rachel his daughter was coming with the flock. 7 He said, "Look, the day is still great. It is not time for gathering the livestock. Water the flock and go, pasture." 8 And they said, "We cannot until all the flocks are gathered and they roll the stone from the mouth of the well, and we water the flock." 9 While he was still speaking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for he was a shepherd. 10 When Jacob saw Rachel daughter of Laban his mother's brother and the flock of Laban his mother's brother, he drew near, rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother. 11 Jacob kissed Rachel, lifted up his voice, and wept. 12 Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother and that he was Rebekah's son, and she ran and told her father. 13 When Laban heard the news about Jacob, his sister's son, he ran to meet him, embraced him, kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things. 14 And Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh." And he dwelt with him a month of days.
