Ezra 6:1-12

Chapter 6
1 Then Darius the king issued a decree, and they sought in the house of the books, the treasury of the complete documents, in Babylon. 2 And it was found in Achmetha, in the fortress that is in the province of Media, a certain scroll, and in this way it was written therein as a memorandum. 3 In year one to Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king set decree: the house of God in Jerusalem, the house is to be built, a place which sacrifices sacrifices and their offerings are brought up, height sixty cubits, its breadth sixty cubits. 4 Rows of cut stone three and row of new timber and the outlay from the house of the king shall be given. 5 And even from me, the house of God that was given and the silver of Nebuchadnezzar that was taken out from the temple that is in Jerusalem and was brought to Babel—they shall return it, and it shall go to the temple that is in Jerusalem to its place, and they shall set it up in the house of God. 6 Now you give, O governor beyond the river—Shetar-Buznai and their colleagues, the Persians who are beyond the river—they were far from there. 7 Let them go from the service of the house of God, which is yours, the governor of the Jews and the exiles of the Jews; let them build the house of God, which is yours, on its site. 8 And from me a decree is set concerning what you shall do with the captivity of the Jews who are with you, to build the house of your God. And from the riches of the king of the province beyond the River, the tribute revenue shall be given to those men, that it may not cease. 9 And whatever groats and sons of bulls and males and lambs for offering to the God of heavens: wheat, salt, wine, and oil, as the priests who are in Jerusalem say, it shall be given to them day by day what is not theirs. 10 that for them from the offerings soothing aromas to the God of heavens and praying for the life of the king and his sons. 11 And from me place a decree that any man who hates this decree will be torn away from his house and erected—he will be smeared upon it and his house will be made a dunghill; it will be done over this. 12 And the God who dwells there marvelously will destroy every king and people who sends its hand to alter or damage the house of his God that is in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have issued a decree; let it be done.
