Boundaries and Towns of Judah

Joshua 15:1-63

15
Chapter 15
1 The lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their clans, to the boundary of Edom, the Wilderness of Zin southward at the end of Teman. 2 And it was to them a boundary south from the end of the Salt Sea from the tongue the one facing south. 3 And it went out to the southland, upward to Akrabbim, and passed Zinnah, and went up from the southland to Kadesh-barnea, and passed Hezron, and went up to Addar, and turned to the land. 4 And it passed Azmon and went out to the Brook of Egypt, and the goings-out of the boundary were seaward. This shall be your southern boundary. 5 The eastern boundary is the Salt Sea to the end of the Jordan. The northern boundary runs from the tongue of the sea at the end of the Jordan. 6 And the boundary went up to the House of Hagla and passed from north to the House of the Plains, and the boundary went up to the Stone of Bahanan son of Reuben. 7 The boundary went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and turned northward to the Gilgal that is opposite the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the wadi. And the boundary passed to the waters of En Shemesh, and its exits were to En Rogel. 8 The boundary went up the Valley of Ben-Hinnom to the shoulder of the Jebusite on the south—that is, Jerusalem—and the boundary went up to the top of the mountain that faces the Valley of Hinnom on the west, at the end of the Valley of Rephaim to the north. 9 The boundary extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron. The boundary extended at Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim). 10 And the boundary turned from Baalah westward to Mount Seir and passed to the shoulder of Mount Jearim from the north—it is Chesalon—and it went down to Beth-shemesh and passed to Timnah. 11 Then the boundary went out to the north side of Ekron, curved toward Shikkeron, passed along to Mount Baalah, went out to Ibleam, and the boundary went out to the sea. 12 And the Great Sea formed the western boundary—this was the boundary of the sons of Judah all around, according to their families. 13 And to Caleb son of Jephunneh he gave a portion within the sons of Judah at the mouth of the LORD to Joshua, namely Kiriath-arba the father of the Anak—that is Hebron. 14 And Caleb dispossessed from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the offspring of Anak. 15 He went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir. Now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher. 16 And Caleb said, "Whoever strikes Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give Achsah my daughter to him as a wife." 17 Othniel son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it, and he gave his daughter Achsah to him as a wife. 18 When she came, she urged him to ask her father for a field. She alighted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you want?" 19 She said, "Give me a blessing. You have given me land in the Negeb; give me also springs of water." He gave her the upper springs and the lower springs. 20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their families. 21 And the cities were from the end to the border of the sons of Judah toward the boundary of Edom in the south: Kabzeel and Eder and Jogor. 22 Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah. 23 and Kedesh and Hazor and Yitnan 24 Ziph, Telaim, and Ba‘aloth. 25 Hazor, Hadattah, Kiriath-hazor.
