Chapter 30
1 The word of the LORD came to me, saying. 2 Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Howl! Alas for the day! 3 For near is a day, near a day to the LORD, a day of cloud, a time of nations it will be. 4 And a sword will come into Egypt, and there will be trembling in Cush at the falling of the profaned in Egypt, and they will take the multitude, and its foundations will be demolished. 5 Cush and Put and Lud and all the Arabs and Cub and the sons of the land of the covenant—they will fall by sword. 6 The LORD says: The supports of Egypt will fall, and the pride of Gaza will descend from the tower of Succoth; they will fall by the sword in it—oracle of the Lord GOD. 7 And they will be desolate in the midst of desolate lands, and its cities will be in the midst of ruined cities. 8 And they will know that I am the LORD when I give fire in Egypt and all their helpers are broken. 9 On that day messengers will go out from before me in ships to terrify Cush at ease, and there will be shuddering among them on the day of Egypt, for behold, it has come. 10 The Lord GOD says, and I will cause the multitude of Egypt to cease in the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babel. 11 He and his people with him, tyrants of nations, are brought to corrupt the earth, and they will empty their swords upon Egypt and fill the earth with slain. 12 I will make the Nile canals desolate, and I will sell the land into the hand of wicked ones, and I will destroy the land and its fullness with the hand of foreigners. I, the LORD, have spoken. 13 Thus says the Lord GOD: And I will destroy idols and I will make captive worthless idols from Memphis, and a chieftain from the land of Egypt there will not be anymore, and I will give fear in the land of Egypt. 14 And I will destroy Pathros, and I will give fire in Tanis, and I will make judges in No. 15 And I will pour out my wrath on Sin, the stronghold of Egypt, and I will cut off the multitude—please. 16 And I will give fire in Egypt; Sin will writhe, writhe will writhe, and now she will be to cleaving, and Noph will be distressed by day. 17 The powers of On and Pi-Beseth will fall by the sword, and they will go into captivity. 18 And at Tahpanhes the day grew dark when the name was broken. I will break the staffs of Egypt, and the pride of Gaza will be taken captive in her—a cloud will cover her, and her daughters will go into captivity. 19 And I will make judgments in Egypt, and they will know that I am the LORD. 20 And it was in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, that the word of the LORD came to me, saying. 21 Son of Adam, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and behold, it has not been bandaged to give healings, to put on a bandage, to strengthen it, to grasp the sword. 22 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and I will break his arms—the strong one and the broken one—and I will cause the sword to fall from his hand. 23 And I will scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse them in lands. 24 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babel, and I will give my sword into his hand, and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan the groanings of the slain before him. 25 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babel, and the arms of Pharaoh will fall, and they will know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babel, and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt. 26 And I will scatter Egypt among the nations, and I will winnow them among the lands, and they will know that I am the LORD.
