Chapter 7
A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite. 1 O LORD my God, in you I have trusted; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me. 2 lest he tear my soul like a lion, tearing and no deliverer. 3 LORD God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my hands. 4 If I have repaid my ally with evil or have delivered my foe empty-handed— 5 If I have repaid my peaceful one with evil and have loosed my adversaries empty, may an enemy pursue my life and overtake and trample to the ground my life and my glory; may he dwell in dust. Selah. 6 Arise, LORD, in your anger! Lift yourself up against the rage of my enemies. Awake for me to the judgment you have commanded. Selah. 7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; lift yourself up against the rage of my adversaries, and awake for me in the judgment you commanded. 8 The LORD judges the peoples. Judge me, LORD, according to my righteousness and according to my purity before me. 9 Please let evil finish the wicked and establish the righteous and test hearts and kidneys, God the righteous. 10 My shield is God, the savior of the upright in heart. 11 God is a righteous judge, and God has wrath every day. 12 If he does not turn back, he sharpens his sword; he treads his bow and fixes it. 13 And he has prepared for him tools of death; he will make his arrows for the burning. 14 Behold, he conceives trouble and is pregnant with toil, and gives birth to falsehood. 15 He dug a pit and dug it deep, and fell into the ditch he made. 16 His toil will return upon his own head, and his violence will descend upon his crown. 17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness, and I will sing to the name of the LORD Most High.
