Isaiah 46:1-13

Chapter 46
1 Bel has bowed down, Nebo has stooped. Their idols were to beast and to beast. I carried you, laden with burden to weariness. 2 They have sunk down, they have bowed together, they could not deliver the burden, and their vital life force has gone into captivity. 3 Hear me, house of Jacob and all the remnant of the house of Israel, the ones laden from me from the womb, the ones borne from me from the womb. 4 Even until old age I am he, and until gray hair I will bear you; I am the one who made you, and I will carry you, and I will bear you and I will deliver you. 5 To whom will you liken me and make me equal and rule me, that we will be like? 6 They pour gold out from the purse, and silver by the cane they weigh; they hire a goldsmith and he makes it a god, they bow down, even they prostrate themselves. 7 He bears it on his shoulder, he carries it and sets it down under him, and it stands in its place; it does not move. Even if he cries out to it, it does not answer him in his distress; it does not save him. 8 Remember this and strengthen yourselves; cause the rebellious sinners to return upon heart. 9 Remember the firstfruits from eternity, for I am God, and there are no other gods and none like me. 10 Declaring from the beginning the end times and from antiquity that which has not been done, saying, "My counsel will stand, and all my desires I will do." 11 I call a bird of prey from the east, from a distant land, Huram of my counsel; even what I have spoken, even I will bring it; I have formed it; even I will do it. 12 Hear me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are far from Righteousness. 13 I bring my righteousness near; it will not be far off, and my salvation will not delay. I will place salvation in Zion for Israel, my glory.
