Abram in Egypt

Genesis 12:10-20

Chapter 12
10 There was a famine in the land, so Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land. 11 And when he drew near to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, "Behold now, I know that you are a woman beautiful of appearance." 12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, "This is his wife," and they will kill me but let you live. 13 "Please say, 'I am your sister,' so that it will be well with me for your sake and my soul will live because of you." 14 And when Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw the woman, for she was very beautiful. 15 Pharaoh's officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh, and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. 16 And he did good to Abram for her sake, and he had sheep and cattle and donkeys and male servants and maidservants and female donkeys and camels. 17 And the LORD struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. 18 Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she is your wife?" 19 Why did you say, "She is my sister," so I took her as my wife? And now, here is your wife—take her and go! 20 Pharaoh commanded his people concerning him, and they sent him away, along with his wife and all that he had.
