44 It was already about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole earth until the ninth hour. 45 Darkness came over the land because the sun failed, and the veil of the temple was torn in the middle. 46 And crying out with a loud voice, Jesus said, “Father, into your hands I entrust my spirit.” And having said this, he breathed his last. 47 When the centurion saw what had happened, he began to glorify God, saying, "Truly this man was righteous." 48 All the crowds who had come together for this spectacle, when they saw what had happened, beat their breasts and returned. 49 But all his acquaintances stood at a distance, as did the women who had followed him from Galilee, watching these things.
