Psalm 50

Psalm 50:1-23
1A melody of Asaph. God, God, the LORD, has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its entrance. 2From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth. 3Our God comes and will not be quiet. Fire before him devours, and around him a storm rages greatly. 4He calls to the heavens from above and to the earth in order to judge his people. 5Gather to me my pious ones who cut my covenant upon sacrifice. 6The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah. 7Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. 8I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are continually before me. 9I will not take a bullock from your house or goats from your folds. 10For every living thing of the wood belongs to me, the animals on the mountains by the thousand. 11I know every bird of the mountains, and the creature of the field is with me. 12If I were hungry I would not say so to you, for the world and its fullness belong to me. 13Shall I eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of goats? 14Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and fulfill your vows to the Most High. 15Call on me in the day of distress; I will rescue you, and you will honor me. 16To the wicked God says: What right have you to recount my decrees and to take my covenant upon your lips? 17You have hated discipline and have cast my word behind you. 18If you see a thief and consent with him, and your portion is with those who commit adultery, 19your lip has sent forth harm and your tongue has joined itself to deceit. 20You sit with your brother; you speak against the son of your mother; you utter slander. 21These things you have done, and I have kept silent. You imagined that I would be like you. I rebuke you and set the matter before your eyes. 22Consider this, please, you who forget God, lest I tear you and none delivers. 23Whoever sacrifices thanksgiving honors me, and whoever orders his way I will show him the salvation of God.
