Chapter 50
A psalm. To Asaph. God, the LORD, has spoken and has called the land from the rising of the sun to its setting. 1 From Zion, from the perfection of the beauty of God, he has appeared. 2 Our God has shone forth from Zion, the perfection of beauty. God has come, and before him fire devours; around him a tempest rages exceedingly. 3 He will call to the heavens from above and to the earth to judge his people. 4 He will call to the heavens from above and to the earth to judge his people. 5 Gather to me my faithful ones, who cut my covenant over sacrifice— heavens declare righteousness, for God is judge. Selah. 6 Hear, my people, and I will speak; Israel, and I will testify against you: God, your God. 7 "I will not reprove you for your sacrifices; your burnt offerings are before me continually." 8 I will not rebuke you over your sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are continually before me. 9 For to me all beasts of the forest, cattle on a thousand mountains. 10 I know every bird of the mountains, and the creatures of my fields are mine. 11 If I am hungry, I will not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. 12 If I am hungry, I will not tell you, for the world is mine and its fullness. 13 Sacrifice thanksgiving to God, and fulfill your vows to the Most High. 14 And call on me in a day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me. 15 And to the wicked God said: "What is it to you to recount my statutes, that you take my covenant upon your mouth?" 16 But to the wicked God says: "What right have you to recite my statutes, when you have taken up my covenant on your lips?" 17 If you have seen a thief and you run with him, and your portion is with adulterers. 18 Your mouth sends forth evil, and your tongue fastens on deceit. 19 You sit with your brother; you speak against your mother's son; you let loose slander. You have equipped your tongue with deceit. 20 God says, "You do this and I am silent; you think I am like you. I will reprove you, and I will set them before your eyes." 21 Understand this, you who forget God, lest I tear you and there is no savior. 22 Understand this now: you have forgotten God, lest I tear you and there is no deliverer.
