Patience in Suffering and the Lord’s Coming

James 5:7-12

5
Chapter 5
7 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until he receives the early and late rains. 8 You also, be patient; strengthen your hearts, because the Parousia of the Lord has drawn near. 9 Do not groan against one another, brothers, lest you be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the doors. 10 Take as an example, brothers, the suffering and patience of the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we bless those who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the outcome of the Lord, that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. 12 But above all, my brothers, do not swear—neither by heaven nor by earth nor by any other oath. Instead, let your yes be yes and your no be no, so that you may not fall under judgment.
