Chapter 27
12 And the LORD said to Moses, "Go up to this mountain of the Abarim and see the land that I have given to the sons of Israel." 13 And you will see it, you, and you will be gathered to your people, you also, just as Aaron your brother was gathered. 14 just as you rebelled against my mouth in the Wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the assembly, to consecrate me in the waters before their eyes—they are the waters of Meribah-kadesh, Wilderness of Zin. 15 And Moses spoke to the LORD, saying: 16 May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation. 17 who goes out before them and who comes in before them, and who brings them out and who brings them in, so that the congregation of the LORD will not be like sheep that have no shepherd. 18 And the LORD said to Moses, "Take for yourself Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him." 19 You shall cause him to stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and you shall command him before their eyes. 20 You shall give some of your splendor upon him so that all the congregation of the sons of Israel may hear. 21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, and he shall ask him in the judgment of the Urim before the LORD. At his mouth they shall go out and at his mouth they shall come in—he and all the sons of Israel with him and all the congregation. 22 And Moses did just as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and stood him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. 23 And he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the LORD had spoken by the hand of Moses.
