Chapter 4
18 Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, "Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt and see if they are still living." Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace." 19 And the LORD said to Moses in Midian, "Go, return to Egypt, for all the men seeking your life are dead." 20 Moses took his wife and his sons, made them ride on the donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took the staff of God in his hand. 21 The LORD said to Moses, "When you go to return to Egypt, see that you do all the signs which I have put in your hand and do them before Pharaoh. I will harden his heart, and he will not send the people." 22 And you shall say to Pharaoh, "Thus says the LORD: Israel is my firstborn son." 23 And I said to you, "Send out my son so that he may serve me," but you refused to send him. Behold, I will kill your son, your firstborn. 24 And it happened on the way, at the inn, that the LORD met him and sought to put him to death. 25 Zipporah took a flint, cut off her son's foreskin, and touched it to his feet. She said, "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me." 26 Then he let him go. She said, "A bridegroom of blood," because of the circumcision. 27 The LORD said to Aaron, "Go meet Moses at the mountain of God." He went and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him. 28 Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD with which he had sent him and all the signs that he had commanded him. 29 Moses and Aaron went and gathered all the elders of the sons of Israel. 30 Aaron spoke all the words that the LORD had spoken to Moses, and he did the signs before the eyes of the people. 31 The people believed when they heard that the LORD had attended to the sons of Israel and had seen their affliction. They bowed and prostrated themselves.
