The Breastpiece Made

Exodus 39:8-21

Chapter 39
8 He made the breastpiece, the work of a checkerboard, like the work of the ephod: gold, blue, purple, scarlet of worm, and fine twisted linen. 9 They made the breastpiece square when doubled—a span in length and a span in width when doubled. 10 They filled it with four rows of stones: the first row—sardius, topaz, and carbuncle. 11 And the second row was emerald, sapphire, and diamond. 12 And the third row is a shem in it and an achlamah. 13 And the fourth row: tarshish, sheham, and yishpeh, surrounded by settings of gold in their filling. 14 The stones were set according to the names of the sons of Israel; these twelve, according to their names, engraved as seals, a man according to his name, for the twelve tribes. 15 They made on the breastpiece chains of border work, woven work of pure gold. 16 They made two gold settings and two gold rings, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastpiece. 17 They put the two gold cords on the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece. 18 They put the two ends of the two cords on the two settings and attached them to the shoulders of the ephod toward the front. 19 They made two gold rings and put them on the two ends of the breastpiece, on its edge that was on the side of the ephod inward. 20 They made two rings of gold and put them on the two shoulders of the ephod, below, opposite its front, opposite its other side above, toward the breastpiece of the ephod. 21 They fastened the breastpiece from its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it was on the skillfully woven band of the ephod. And the breastpiece did not slip off from over the ephod, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
