Zophar's Rebuke and Call to Repentance

Job 11:1-20

11
Chapter 11
1 And he answered Zophar the Naamathite and said. 2 The chief officer of divine words will not respond? And if he is a man of lips, he will be righteous. 3 Will your words silence them? And will you mock, and there will be no shaming from you? 4 And you said, "Pure is my taking, and I have been clean in your eyes." 5 But oh—who will grant God a word, and he will open his lips with you. 6 And he will tell you the hidden things of wisdom, for they are doubles to sound insight. And know that God has reserved for you from your dwelling place. 7 Will you find the investigation of God? Will you find until the end of Shaddai? 8 The height of the heavens—what will you do? The depth of Sheol—what will you know? 9 Its measure is longer than the earth, and its breadth is broader than the sea. 10 If he passes by and imprisons and assembles, who can make him return it? 11 For he knows vain men and sees iniquity, and he will not consider it. 12 And a hollow man will gain a heart, and a wild ass's colt is born a man. 13 If you prepare your heart and spread out your palms to him, 14 If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and do not let injustice dwell in your tents. 15 For then you will lift your face from defect, and you will be steadfast, and you will not fear. 16 For then you will forget it, like waters that have passed away; you will not remember it. 17 And from noon ḥeled will rise; taʿăfâ like morning it will be. 18 And you will trust because there is hope, and you will dig; in security you will lie down. 19 And you will lie down, and no one will disturb you, and they will make your faces many. 20 And the eyes of the wicked will fail, and flight will perish from them, and their hope—a snare of life.
