Wisdom's Public Call and the Folly of Rejection

Proverbs 1:20-33

1
Chapter 1
20 Wisdom in the outer areas will cry out; she will give her voice in the public streets. 21 At the head of the heights she calls, at the openings of the gates in the city she utters her words. 22 How long, simple ones, will you love simplicity, and scoffers delight in their scoffing, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Return to my rebuke; behold, I will pour out my Spirit on you, I will make my words known to you. 24 Because I called and you refused; I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention. 25 But you rejected all my counsel and did not accept my rebuke. 26 I will laugh at your calamity too; I will mock when your terror comes. 27 When it comes as a storm, your fear and calamity as a tempest will come upon you; when distress and anguish come upon you. 28 Then they will call me and I will not answer; they will seek me and they will not find me. 29 Instead, because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD. 30 They did not consent to my counsel; they despised all my rebuke. 31 They will eat the fruit of their way and be filled with their own counsels. 32 For the turning back of simpletons will kill them, and the security of fools will destroy them. 33 And he who hears me will dwell securely and be tranquil from the terror of evil.
