Isaiah 48:1-11

Chapter 48
1 Hear this, house of Jacob, the ones called by the name of Israel, and from the waters of Judah who came out, the ones swearing by the name of the LORD, and by the God of Israel they mention, not in truth and not in righteousness. 2 for they are called from the city of the holy portion, and they are supported on the God of Israel; the LORD of hosts is his name. 3 The first things from then I told, and from my mouth they went out, and I caused them to hear suddenly, and they came. 4 Because I knew that you are stiff-necked, that your neck is an iron sinew, and your forehead is bronze. 5 And I told you from then, before they come, I caused you to hear, lest you say, "My graven images and my statues and my libation offerings made them." 6 You have heard, you have seen all this, and will you not declare it? I made you hear new things from now on, hidden things that you did not know. 7 Now they have been created, not from then and not before a day, and you did not hear, lest you say, "Behold, you knew them." 8 You did not hear, you did not know, and from then your ear was not open, for I knew that you would betray in treachery and that transgression called to you from the womb. 9 For the sake of my name I will lengthen my anger, and for your sake I will seal my praise, lest I destroy you. 10 Behold, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of the poor. 11 For my sake, for my sake I will act, for how should my name be profaned? And I will not give my glory to another.
