Exodus 17:8-16

Chapter 17
8 Amalek came and fought against Israel at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, "Choose men for us and go out. Fight against Amalek tomorrow. I will be standing on the top of the hill, and the staff of God will be in my hand." 10 Joshua did as Moses had told him and fought against Amalek. Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 Whenever Moses raised his hand, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 Moses' hands grew heavy. So they took a stone, put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other, and his hands remained steady until the sun went down. 13 Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 14 And the LORD said to Moses, "Write this as a memorial in a book and put it in the ears of Joshua, for I will blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven." 15 Moses built an altar and called it "The LORD Is My Banner." 16 He said, "A hand is against the throne of Yah—the LORD's war against Amalek from generation to generation."
