God’s Rest and the Danger of Unbelief

Hebrews 4:1-13
1Let us therefore fear, lest while a promise remains of entering into his rest, anyone of you should think that he has fallen short. 2For we also have been gospelized just as those ones, but the word of hearing did not profit them, not having been united with faith in those who heard. 3For we who have trusted enter into rest, just as he has said, As I swore in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest, although the works were finished from the beginning of the world. 4For he has said somewhere about the seventh day thus, "And God gave rest on the seventh day from all his works." 5And in this again, If they will enter into my rest. 6Since therefore it remains for some to enter into it, and those who formerly had the good news preached to them did not enter because of disobedience. 7Again he determines a day, today, saying in David after so great a time, just as has been foretold, "Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." 8For if Joshua gave them rest, he would not after these things have spoken about another day. 9Therefore a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God. 10For the one having entered into his rest, he also rested from his works just as God did from his own. 11Let us therefore be eager to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall after the same example of disobedience. 12For the living and effective word of God is sharper than every double-edged sword and penetrating until the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrows, and discerning of the reflections and thoughts of the heart. 13And no creation is hidden before him, but all things are naked and laid bare to his eyes, to whom is our word.
