Warning from Israel’s Example: Beware Unbelief

Hebrews 3:7-19

3
Chapter 3
7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice," 8 do not harden your hearts as in the provocation, on the day of the Temptation in the Wilderness, 9 They did not test your fathers when they tested, and they saw my works. 10 Forty years. Therefore I was provoked with this generation and said, "They always go astray in their hearts; moreover, they did not know my ways." 11 As I swore in my wrath, "If they shall enter into my rest." 12 See, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God, 13 but exhort one another each day, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by the deception of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if indeed we hold firm the beginning of our confidence until the end. 15 as he says: "Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the provocation." 16 For who, having heard, provoked? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt through Moses? 17 But with whom was he displeased for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 But to whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest, except to those who disobeyed? 19 And we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
