Chapter 11
19 Those, therefore, who had been scattered from the tribulation that happened upon Stephen went through as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except only to Jews. 20 But some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who had come to Antioch, were speaking to the Hellenists and proclaiming the Lord Jesus. 21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number who had believed turned to the Lord. 22 And the report about them was heard in the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas as far as Antioch. 23 who, when he arrived and saw the grace of God, rejoiced and was exhorting them all to remain steadfast with the Lord with purpose of heart, 24 because he was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and faith. And a large crowd was added to the Lord. 25 But he went to Tarsus to seek out Saul. 26 and having found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it happened that they also stayed a whole year gathered together in the church and taught a sufficient crowd, and it was divinely revealed there first in Antioch that the disciples were to be called Christians. 27 In these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 But one of them, named Agabus, stood up and signified through the Spirit that a great famine was about to come upon the whole inhabited world, which happened during the reign of Claudius. 29 And of the disciples, as anyone prospered, each of them determined to send relief to the brothers dwelling in Judea. 30 which they did, sending it to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.
