Isaiah 66:1-24

Chapter 66
1 The LORD says: The heavens are my throne, and the earth is the footstool of my feet. Where is the house that you will build for me? And where is the place of my rest? 2 And all these my hand made, and they were all these, says the LORD. And to this I will look: to the poor and crushed of spirit and trembling over my word of God. 3 Slaughterer of the ox, striker of a man, sacrificer of the sheep, beheader of a dog, one who offers up his grain offering, blood of a pig, one who causes his new moon to be remembered, one who blesses On—they also have chosen in their ways and in their abominations their nephesh delights. 4 I will also choose their perverse desires, and I will bring their terrors upon them; because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not hear or obey. And they did the evil in my eyes, and they chose what I did not delight in. 5 Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word. Your brothers who hate you, who exclude you, said, "For the sake of my name the LORD will be glorified, and we will appear in your joy." And they will be ashamed. 6 A voice of uproar from the city, a voice from the temple: the voice of the LORD paying back recompense to his enemies. 7 Before she begins to be in labor she bore a male. Before her labor pains come she delivered a male. 8 Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be born at once? For she has labored and she has given birth—Zion to her sons. 9 Shall I break open and not cause to give birth? says the LORD. If I, the one causing to give birth, restrain? says your God. 10 Rejoice with Jerusalem and exult in her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her. 11 so that you may nurse and be satisfied from the breast of her who comforts him; so that you may draw and delight yourselves from the nipple of her glory. 12 For thus says the LORD: here I am, stretching out to her like a river of peace, and like an overflowing stream, the glory of the nations; and you will suckle them at the side, you will be carried, and you will be dandled on knees. 13 As a man whose mother comforts him, so I will comfort you, and in Jerusalem you will be comforted. 14 And you will see it, and your heart will rejoice, and your bones will flourish like grass. And the hand of the LORD will be made known to his servants and his wrath to his enemies. 15 For behold, the LORD will come in fire, and his chariots like a tempest, to return in the heat of his anger and his rebuke in flames of fire. 16 For by fire the LORD will judge, and by his sword, every flesh. And the slain of the LORD will be many. 17 Those consecrating themselves and those ritually purifying themselves to the gardens after one in the midst of eaters of the flesh of the pig and the abomination and the mouse will come to an end together, says the LORD. 18 And I—their deeds and their thoughts—it has come to gather all the nations and the tongues, and they will come and see my glory. 19 And I will put a sign among them, and I will send survivors from them to the nations: Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, bow-drawers, Tubal, and Javan, the distant islands that have not heard my fame or seen my glory. And they will tell my glory among the nations. 20 And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a grain offering to the LORD on horses and in chariots and in litters and on mules and in coaches upon the mountain of their holy places, Jerusalem, says the LORD, just as the sons of Israel will bring the grain offering in a pure vessel to the house of the LORD. 21 I will also take some of them for priests and for Levites, says the LORD. 22 For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before me, says the LORD, so your Seed and your Name shall stand. 23 And it will be that from every new moon to its new moon and from every Sabbath to its Sabbath all flesh will come to prostrate before me, says the LORD. 24 And they will go out and see the carcasses of the men who transgressed against me, for their worm will not die and their fire will not be quenched, and they will be an abhorrence to all flesh.
