God’s Covenant with Noah

Genesis 9:1-17

Chapter 9
1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth." 2 And your fear and your dread shall be upon every wild animal of the land and upon every bird of the heavens, upon every one upon which you shall swarm the ground and upon every fish of the sea; into your hand I have given them. 3 Every living creeping thing shall be food for you like the green plant; I have given every one to you. 4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its nephesh, its blood. 5 And surely I will require your blood for your nephesh from the hand of every beast; I will require it, and from the hand of humanity, from the hand of man his brother, I will require the nephesh of humanity. 6 Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for God made man in his image. 7 And you, be fruitful and multiply, swarm in the earth and multiply in it. 8 And God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 And I, behold, I am establishing my covenant with you and with your seed after you. 10 and every nephesh of the living creature that is with you, in the birds, in the livestock, and in every wild animal of the land with you, from all the ones going out of the ark, to every wild animal of the land. 11 And I will establish my covenant with you, and all flesh shall not be cut off any more by the waters of the Flood, and there shall not be any more a Flood to destroy the earth. 12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant that I am giving between me and you and every living soul that is with you for eternal generations." 13 I have given my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it will be when clouds are over the land, and the bow is seen in the cloud. 15 And I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and every living being of all flesh, and the waters will no longer be a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 The bow shall be in the cloud, and I will see it as a reminder of the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. 17 And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth."
