Chapter 12
1 And these are the ones who came to David at Ziklag, still detained from the presence of Saul son of Kish, and they were among the mighty ones, strengtheners of the warfare. 2 bow-weapons of the bow, from the right and from the left, with stones and with arrows in the bow, from the brothers of Saul from Benjamin. 3 The head Ahiezer and Joash, sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Iziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth, and Berakah and Jehu the Anathothite. 4 And Shemaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty. 5 and Jeremiah and Jehaziel and Johanan and Jozabad the Gederathite 6 Eluzai and Jerimoth and Bealiah and Shemaiah and Shephatiah the Haurupite. 7 Elkanah, Yishiyahu, Izreya, Yuozer, and Yishba'am, the Korahites. 8 And he went up, and Zebadiah, sons of Jerham from Gedor. 9 From the Gadites there separated themselves to David at the stronghold in the wilderness mighty ones of the host, men of war for battle, arrangers of large shield and spear, faces like lions their faces, and like gazelles on the mountains to hasten. 10 Azar the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third. 11 Shammoth the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth. 12 Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh. 13 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth. 14 Jeremiah the tenth, from the sons of twenty and ten. 15 These from the sons of Gad, heads of the host, one to a hundred, the small and the great to a thousand. 16 These are those who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it was full over all its banks, and they drove out all the valleys to the east and to the west. 17 And men came from the sons of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold to David. 18 David went out before them and answered them, "If you have come to me in peace to help me, may my heart be united to you. But if you have come to deceive me on behalf of my enemies, when my hands are innocent of violence, may the God of our fathers see it and rebuke you." 19 A spirit clothed Amasai, head of the thirds, and he said to you, David, and to your people, son of Jesse: Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helper, for your God has helped you. And David received them and made them heads of the band. 20 And from Manasseh fell upon David when he came with Philistines upon Saul for warfare, but they did not help them, for the lords of Philistines sent him away in counsel saying, "He will fall to his lord Saul at our head." 21 When he went to Ziklag, they fell upon him—from Manasseh Adnah and Jozabad and Jediael and Michael and Jozabad and Elihu and Zillethai, heads of the thousands who to Manasseh. 22 They were helpers to David against the band, for they were all mighty men of valor, and they were chiefs in the army.
