Chapter 15
1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded. 2 And he went out before Asa and said to him, "Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the LORD is with you while you are with him. And if you seek him, he will be found by you; and if you abandon him, he will abandon you." 3 For many days Israel was without the true God, without a priest teaching, and without Torah. 4 And in their distress he returned to the LORD God of Israel and sought him and found him. 5 In those times there was no peace for the one going out or the one coming in, for many tumults were upon all the inhabitants of the lands. 6 They shattered nation against nation and city against city, for gods troubled them in every distress. 7 And you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for there is reward for your work. 8 And Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet. He strengthened himself and removed the abominations from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities that he had captured from Mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD that was before the porch of the LORD. 9 He gathered all Judah and Benjamin and the sojourners with them from Ephraim and Manasseh and Simeon, for many from Israel fell upon him in abundance when they saw that the LORD his God was with him. 10 And they gathered at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of Asa's kingdom. 11 And they sacrificed to the LORD on that day from the spoil they had brought: seven hundred cattle and seven thousand sheep. 12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul. 13 And everyone who does not seek the LORD God of Israel shall be put to death, from small to great, from man to woman. 14 And they swore to the LORD with a loud voice and with a blast and with trumpets and with rams' horns. 15 And all Judah rejoiced over the oath because they swore with all their heart and they sought him with all their will, and he was found by them, and the LORD gave them rest all around. 16 And also Asa the king removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother, which she had made for Asherah a horrific image, and Asa cut off her horrific image and pulverized it and burned it in the stream of Kidron. 17 And the high places were not removed from Israel; only the heart of Asa was complete all his days. 18 And he brought the holy things of his father and his own holy things to the house of God: silver and gold and vessels. 19 And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa's reign.
