Chapter 26
1 For the divisions of the gates among the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Korah from the sons of Asaph. 2 And to Meshelemiah sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth. 3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elihoenai the seventh. 4 Sons of Obed-Edom: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozadak the second, Joah the third, Shekar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth. 5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth, for God blessed them. 6 And sons were born to Shemaiah his son, the ones who ruled over the house of their fathers, for they were mighty ones of strength. 7 Sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, Elzabad his brother, sons of power, Elihu and Semachiah. 8 All these from the sons of Obed-Edom—they are, and their sons and their brothers, men of power in strength for the service—sixty-two for Obed-Edom. 9 And to Meshullamiah sons and brothers, sons of power, eighteen. 10 And to Hosah, from the sons of Merari, sons: Shemri the head, for there was no firstborn, and his father set him as head. 11 Hilkiah the second, Tabaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brothers of Hosah, thirteen. 12 These divisions of the gates had as their chiefs the heads of the mighty ones. They gave charges to their brothers opposite them to serve in the house of the LORD. 13 They cast lots, as small as great, according to their fathers' houses, gate by gate. 14 And the lot fell eastward to Shelemiah and to Zechariah his son, counselor in wisdom. They cast lots, and his lot went out north. 15 To Obed-Edom the south, and to his sons the house of Asuppim. 16 To Shuphim and Hosah belonged the west, with the Shalleketh gate on the causeway going up, opposite the guard unit. 17 To the east the Levites six, to the north four per day, to the south four per day, and to the Asaphites two and two. 18 At the Parbar westward: four; at the colonnade: two; at the Parbar. 19 These are the divisions of the gates for the sons of the Korahites and for the sons of Merari.
