2 Kings 6:8-23

Chapter 6
8 The king of Aram was fighting against Israel. He advised his servants, "In such-and-such a place shall you encamp." 9 And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware of passing by this place, for there the Arameans are encamping." 10 The king of Israel sent to the place the man of God had told him about. He warned them and kept guard there—not once or twice. 11 And the heart of the king of Aram was furious over this matter. He called his servants and said to them, "Will you not tell me who from our servants is for the king of Israel?" 12 One of his servants said, "No, my lord the king. Elisha the prophet who is in Israel tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your inner bedroom." 13 He said, "Go and see where he is, and I will send and take him." They told him, "Look, he is in Dothan." 14 And he sent there horses and chariots and a heavy force, and they came at night and encircled the city. 15 And the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, and behold—a force surrounding the city, with horses and chariots. And he said to his boy, "Alas, my lord, how shall we do?" 16 And he said, "Do not fear, for there are more who are with us than those who are with them." 17 Elisha prayed and said, "LORD, please open his eyes so that he may see." And the LORD opened the eyes of the servant, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha. 18 And they went down to him, and Elisha prayed to the LORD and said, "Please strike this nation with blindness." And he struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. 19 And Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man whom you seek." And he led them to Samaria. 20 And when they came to Samaria, Elisha said, "The LORD has opened these men's eyes, and they see." And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw. And behold, they were in the midst of Samaria. 21 And when the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha, "My father, strike! Strike!" 22 And he said, "Do not strike those whom you have captured with your sword and your bow; you—strike, set bread and water before them." And they ate and drank and went to their lords. 23 And he prepared a great feast for them, and they ate and drank. Then he sent them away, and they went to their master. And the raiding bands of Aram did not come again into the land of Israel.
