Chapter 4
1 Now one of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. The creditor has come to take my two children as slaves." 2 Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" She said, "Your maidservant has nothing at all in the house except a flask of oil." 3 He said to her, "Go ask your neighbors for vessels—empty vessels. Do not ask for just a few." 4 Then you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour into all these vessels. Set aside the full ones. 5 She went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They were bringing the vessels to her, and she was pouring. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." He said to her, "There are no more vessels," and the oil stopped. 7 She came and told the man of God. He said to her, "Go, sell the oil and pay your creditor, and you and your sons live on the remainder."
