Our Eternal Dwelling and Accountability to Christ

2 Corinthians 5:1-10

5
Chapter 5
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tent is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For indeed in this we groan, longing to put on our dwelling from heaven, 3 for if we are even clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For indeed we who are in the tent groan, being burdened, because of which we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed over, so that the mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who prepared us for this very thing—God, who gave us the pledge of the Spirit. 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk through faith, not through sight— 8 We are confident, but we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 Therefore we also make it our ambition, whether at home or away, to be pleasing to him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what he did through the body, whether good or evil.
