Ahab and Jezebel Introduce Baal Worship

1 Kings 16:29-34

Chapter 16
29 Ahab son of Omri reigned over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah. Ahab son of Omri reigned over Israel twenty-two years in Samaria. 30 Ahab son of Omri did evil in the eyes of the LORD more than all who were before him. 31 It was light in his eyes to walk in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat. He took a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and he went and served Baal and bowed down to it. 32 He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal which he built in Samaria. 33 Ahab made the Asherah pole. Ahab added to his provocation of the LORD God of Israel more than all the kings of Israel who were before him. 34 In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He founded it with Abiram his firstborn, and he set up its doors with Segub his youngest, according to the word of the LORD which he spoke by Joshua son of Nun.
