The Invasion of Gog and Its Defeat (part 1)

Ezekiel 38:1-39:21
1And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the leader, the prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him. 3And you shall say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against you, Gog, leader, prince of Meshech and Tubal. 4And I will turn you back and put hooks in your jaws, and I will bring you out and all your army, horses and horsemen clothed in perfection, all of them, a great assembly grasping shield and buckler and swords, all of them. 5Persia, Cush, and Put are with them, all of them with shield and helmet. 6Gomer and all her bands, the house of Togarmah from the northern flanks, and all his bands, many peoples with you. 7Prepare and prepare yourself, you and all your assembly that is gathered upon you, and you shall be a custody for them. 8After many days you will be listed; in the latter part of the years you will come to a land restored from the sword, gathered from many peoples, upon the mountains of Israel that were continually desolate, and she was brought out from the peoples, and they will dwell securely, all of them. 9And you will come up like devastation; you come like a cloud to cover the land, you and all your bands and many peoples with you. 10Thus says the Lord GOD: It will happen on that day that thoughts will arise upon your heart, and you will devise an evil scheme. 11And you will say, I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will come against those at rest who dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, bars, or doors. 12To seize spoil and to carry off plunder, to turn your hand against inhabited ruins and against a people gathered from the nations who acquire livestock and goods and dwell at the center of the land. 13Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all its villages will say to you, Have you come to seize spoil? Have you assembled your company to carry off plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take livestock and goods, to seize great spoil? 14Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, Thus says the Lord GOD: On that day, when my people Israel dwell securely, will you not know it? 15And you will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a numerous army. 16And you will come up against my people Israel like a cloud covering the land; it will happen in the latter days, and I will bring you against my land so that the nations may know me when I sanctify myself through you before their eyes, O Gog. 17Thus says the Lord GOD: Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days by the hand of my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for years that I would bring you against them? 18It will happen on that day, on the day when Gog comes against the soil of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, that my rage will rise in my anger. 19And in my jealousy and in the fire of my fury I have spoken: Surely on that day there will be a great earthquake in the soil of Israel. 20The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, every creeping thing that creeps on the ground, and all the people who are on the face of the ground will quake at my presence, the mountains will be thrown down, the steep places will fall, and every wall will fall to the ground. 21And I will summon a sword against him throughout all my mountains, declares the Lord GOD: Every man's sword will be against his brother. 22I will enter into judgment with him by pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and brimstone upon him, upon his bands, and upon the many peoples who are with him. 23So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the sight of many nations; then they will know that I am the LORD.
Chapter 39
1And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against you, Gog, leader, prince of Meshech and Tubal. 2I will turn you around and lead you and bring you up from the remote parts of the north and bring you against the mountains of Israel. 3I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows fall from your right hand. 4You will fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your bands and the peoples who are with you; I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. 5You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD. 6I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD. 7I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore; the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. 8Behold, it is coming, and it will happen, declares the Lord GOD: This is the day of which I have spoken. 9Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and make fires with the weapons, the small shields and the large shields, the bows and the arrows, the clubs and the spears; they will make fires with them for seven years. 10They will not need to gather wood from the field or cut it from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; they will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Lord GOD. 11On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, the valley of the travelers east of the sea; it will block the way of the travelers, and there they will bury Gog and all his multitude and call it the Valley of Hamon-gog. 12The house of Israel will bury them in order to cleanse the land; it will take seven months. 13All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I show my glory, declares the Lord GOD. 14Men will be continually employed to pass through the land burying the travelers who remain on the surface of the land, so as to cleanse it; at the end of seven months they will make their search. 15As the searchers pass through the land, anyone who sees a human bone will set up a marker beside it until the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog. 16They will also give a name to a city, Hamonah, and so they will cleanse the land. 17And you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD: Speak to the birds of every sort and to all the beasts of the field: Assemble and come, gather from all around to the sacrifice that I am preparing for you, a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, and you shall eat flesh and drink blood. 18You shall eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, of goats, of bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan. 19You shall eat fat until you are filled and drink blood until you are drunk at the sacrifice that I prepare for you. 20You shall be filled at my table with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and with all the men of war, declares the Lord GOD. 21And I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed and my hand that I have laid on them.
