In John 10:3, the present active form occurs where the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. Aorist forms likewise accompany calling for people in Acts 10:18, calling the blind man in Mark 10:49, and summoning Jesus in John 18:33; Luke 19:15 uses an aorist passive infinitive where slaves are ordered to be called.

A rooster's audible crow · common
The term is used of a rooster in predictions and their fulfillment: John 13:38 has an aorist active subjunctive in the prediction, while John 18:27 and Luke 22:60 use aorist active indicatives when the rooster crows. In Mark 14:72, the APB renders the event as a rooster crowing a second time.

Crying out with an audible voice · occasional
Aorist active forms mark forceful vocal speech in Acts 16:28, where Paul cries out with a loud voice, and in Luke 23:46, where Jesus calls out before speaking. The imperfect active form in Luke 8:8 occurs as the speaker calls out, and Revelation 14:18 describes an angel calling with a loud voice before giving an instruction.

In John 13:13, the present active plural form occurs in the statement that the hearers address Jesus as “the teacher and the lord.” This use concerns what they call him rather than summoning him.
