In Proverbs 13:18 and Proverbs 15:32, Qal active participles identify the person whose response to discipline brings poverty and dishonor or rejects his own soul. Proverbs 1:25 and Proverbs 8:33 place finite Qal forms with counsel, argument, and discipline, while Ezekiel 24:14 uses a first-person Qal imperfect in the LORD's statement that he will act without withholding action.

Leviticus 10:6 prohibits Aaron and his sons from doing this to their heads, and Leviticus 21:10 similarly prohibits the high priest from letting his hair hang loose. In Leviticus 13:45 and Numbers 5:18, Qal passive participial and sequential-perfect forms occur in instructions concerning a person's head.

Exodus 32:25 uses Qal passive participial forms when Moses sees the people in an uncontrolled condition; the APB renders the verse with “running wild” and says Aaron had let them get out of control. Exodus 5:4 uses a Hiphil imperfect in Pharaoh's question about Moses and Aaron in relation to the people's work, and 2 Chronicles 28:19 uses a Hiphil perfect where Ahaz had led Judah into unfaithfulness.
In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB often uses “neglect” in clauses about counsel, discipline, and action, but uses “unbound,” “hair hang loose,” and “uncover” in head-related clauses. In Exodus 32:25 it uses “running wild” and “out of control”; these are verse-level renderings rather than definitions.
