ekei marks a specified location where persons are present, remain, arrive, or carry out an action.

The attested adverb marks a specified location: people may be present or remain at it, come to it, perform an action at it, or be located there in relation to a preceding “where” clause.

1. At a specified location · dominant

   The adverb identifies the place in clauses of presence, movement, and action. In John 10:40 the APB renders that Jesus “stayed there,” in John 18:3 Judas “came there,” and in Luke 23:33 the crucifixion occurs when they reach the named place. It can also complete a location paired with a “where” clause: in John 12:26 the APB renders, “where I am, there my servant will be also.”

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB commonly presents the location with “there,” as in “stayed there” and “came there,” and sometimes expresses the same locative relation in a “where... there” construction. These renderings show the verse-level location relation rather than a fixed English equivalent in every clause.
