The named figure David · dominant
The nominative form names David in accounts of what he did or said: in Acts 13:36 the APB renders the clause "For David, on the one hand, having served his own generation by the plan of God, fell asleep," and in Mark 12:36 it introduces his saying. Genitive forms place the same name in stated relations, including Jesus as "son of David" in Matthew 1:1, Joseph's connection with "the house of David" in Luke 1:27, and the "city of David" in Luke 2:4.
In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB normally presents the name as "David" and retains it within relational expressions such as "son of David," "house of David," and "city of David." These English phrases show the verse-level relations rather than supplying separate meanings for the name.
