Psalms 110–118 (part 1)

Psalm 110:1-114:8
1A melody of David. The utterance of the LORD to my lord: Sit at my right hand until I set your enemies as a footstool for your feet. 2The LORD sends the rod of your strength from Zion; rule in the midst of your enemies. 3Your people offer freewill offerings on the day of your strength, in the splendor of holiness; from the womb of the dawn, the dew of your youth is to you. 4The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. 5The Lord is at your right hand; he strikes down kings on the day of his wrath. 6He executes judgment among the nations; he fills with corpses; he shatters heads over the wide earth. 7From the torrent by the way he drinks; therefore he lifts up the head.
Chapter 111
1Praise the LORD. I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. 2Great are the works of the LORD, sought by all who delight in them. 3Splendor and majesty belong to his work, and his righteousness endures forever. 4He has made a memorial for his wondrous acts; gracious and compassionate is the LORD. 5He gives prey to those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. 6He has told his people the strength of his works, to give them the inheritance of the nations. 7The works of his hands are truth and justice; all his precepts are trustworthy. 8They are established forever and ever, made in faithfulness and uprightness. 9He sent redemption to his people; he commanded his covenant forever; holy and to be feared is his name. 10The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD; good understanding belongs to all who do them; his praise stands forever.
Chapter 112
1Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD and greatly delights in his commandments. 2A mighty man in the land will be his seed; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, compassionate, and righteous. 5A pleasant man is gracious and lends; he sustains his words in justice. 6For he will never be shaken; the righteous will be remembered forever. 7He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. 8His heart is steady; he will not be afraid until he sees his enemies. 9He has scattered and given to the needy; his righteousness stands forever; his horn is exalted in glory. 10The wicked sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked perishes.
Chapter 113
1Praise the LORD. Praise, O servants of the LORD; praise the name of the LORD. 2Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore. 3From the rising of the sun until its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised. 4The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory is above the heavens. 5Who is like the LORD our God, who is enthroned on high? 6Who looks down to see in the heavens and in the earth? 7Who raises the poor from the dust; from the ash heap he lifts the needy. 8To make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people. 9Who settles the barren woman in the house as a glad mother of children. Praise the LORD.
Chapter 114
1When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange speech. 2Judah became his sanctuary; Israel his dominion. 3The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back. 4The mountains skipped like rams; the hills like sons of the flock. 5What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back? 6Why do you skip like rams, O mountains; like sons of the flock, O hills? 7Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob. 8Who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.
