chreia denotes a requirement, whether someone lacks it, supplies it, or is said to have no requirement for it.

The occurrences consistently concern what is required by a person, group, or situation: needs may be distributed or supplied, such as material necessities and help for others, while many clauses state that a person or thing has no requirement for further action, instruction, testimony, or provision.

1. A requirement or lack to be met · dominant

   The noun identifies what a person or circumstance requires. In Acts 2:45 the accusative singular occurs in the distribution of possessions to each person according to that person's requirement; in Acts 20:34 the dative plural is associated with necessities met by labor. The same use includes what can be supplied to others in Ephesians 4:28 and what is explicitly absent in John 2:25, where the APB renders the clause "he had no need that anyone should testify about the human."
