The occurrences chiefly describe persons who are prepared or poised for an expected response, action, or event; they also describe meals, a room, a gift, salvation, work, a time, and a wedding as arranged or available.

Nominative plural forms describe people positioned for a response or event: in Luke 12:40 the APB renders the instruction, "You also must be ready," because the son of man comes unexpectedly, and in Acts 23:15 the speakers are prepared to kill a man before he approaches. The same use covers giving a defense in 1 Peter 3:15, going to prison and death in Luke 22:33, entering with the bridegroom in Matthew 25:10, and being prepared for every good work in Titus 3:1.

Arranged or available for an occasion · common
Forms agreeing with things characterize what has been put in order for use or arrival. In Luke 14:17 the APB renders "everything is already ready" for the dinner; Mark 14:15 describes an upper room as "furnished and ready," and Matthew 22:4 presents the meal and "all things" as prepared for the wedding. The feminine form in 2 Corinthians 9:5 likewise qualifies a promised gift that is to be ready.
In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB commonly uses "ready," including people ready to act and things ready for an occasion; it also uses "made ready," "already ready," and "furnished and ready." Because the APB is a whole-verse translation, these renderings show the clauses' presentation rather than a fixed English equivalent in every verse.
