Elihu's Intervention: Rebuke and Praise of God's Majesty (part 4)

Job 36:25-37:24
25All mankind has seen him; a human looks from a distance. 26Look! God is great, and we do not know the number of his years, and there is no searching them. 27For he draws off drops of water; they distill rain into his mist. 28Which the clouds pour out; they drip upon many a man. 29Indeed, can one understand the spreading of a cloud, the thunderings of his booth? 30Look! He has spread his light upon it, and he has covered the roots of the sea. 31For in them he judges peoples; he gives food in abundance. 32He covers the light with his palms and commands it against the one it strikes. 33His thunder tells concerning it; the livestock also tells concerning what is rising.
Chapter 37
1Also at this my heart trembles and starts from its place. 2Hear, hear the turmoil of his voice, and the moaning that comes out from his lips. 3He sends it out under the whole heaven, and his lightning to the wings of the earth. 4After him a voice roars; he thunders with the voice of his pride, and he does not restrain them, for his voice is heard. 5God thunders with his voice, doing wonders; he does great things, and we do not know them. 6For to the snow he says, "Fall on the earth," and likewise to the shower of rain and the showers of his mighty rain. 7By the hand of every man he seals, to make every man know his work. 8And the living thing comes into ambush, and in its habitation it dwells. 9From the chamber comes a whirlwind, and from the scattering winds, cold. 10From the breath of God ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is in constraint. 11Also by moisture he burdens a cloud; he scatters his light. 12And it is turned around by his guidance, by his counsels, to do all that he commands them upon the face of the world, on the earth. 13Whether for a rod, whether for his land, or whether for kindness, he brings it about. 14Listen to this, Job; stand and understand the wonders of God. 15Do you know how God sets them in place and makes the light of his cloud shine? 16Do you know the swaying of a cloud, the wonders of unblemished knowledge? 17Which makes your garments hot when the earth grows still from the south. 18Can you, with him, spread out the strong clouds, like a poured-out mirror? 19Make known to us what we shall say to him; we cannot arrange because of darkness. 20Is it recounted to him that I speak? If a man says that he will be swallowed up. 21And now they have not seen the bright light; it is in the clouds, and the wind has passed and purified them. 22From the north gold comes upon God, the feared splendor. 23The Almighty we have not found; great in strength and justice, and abundant in righteousness he does not afflict. 24Therefore men fear him; he does not see all the wise of heart.
