sa.var describes awaiting an expected person, provision, deliverance, faithfulness, or future event.

The attested use describes awaiting what is expected: creatures await food, a speaker awaits salvation, the dead do not await God’s faithfulness, enemies await a day to dominate, and women are asked whether they would await sons’ maturity.

1. Awaiting an expected outcome or provision · dominant

   In Psalm 104:27 the Piel imperfect plural form occurs of all creatures in relation to food given in its time; in Psalm 145:15 the parallel clause has all eyes directed toward God as food is given. The same awaiting relation is applied to salvation in Psalm 119:166, God’s faithfulness in Isaiah 38:18, a hoped-for opportunity to dominate in Esther 9:1, and waiting until sons grow up in Ruth 1:13.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB uses “await” in Psalm 104:27, Isaiah 38:18, and Esther 9:1, and “waited” in Psalm 119:166 and Ruth 1:13; Psalm 145:15 instead renders the surrounding clause “look to you.” This variation is treated as presentation of the clauses rather than separate lexical meanings.
