The dominant use identifies a surplus or remainder after measuring, setting aside, calculating, or distinguishing persons beyond a corresponding group. In the tabernacle instructions, the same idea describes curtain material extending over the structure.

   In Exodus 16:18, the form occurs in the report that the one gathering much had nothing left over; Exodus 16:23 speaks of what is left over to be kept until morning. Leviticus 25:27 places the term in calculating and returning an excess, while Numbers 3:46, Numbers 3:48, and Numbers 3:49 identify persons remaining over the Levites in connection with redemption silver.

   In Exodus 26:12, the forms occur with the remaining tent curtains, whose excess is said in the APB to “overrun upon the back of the tabernacle.” Exodus 26:13 likewise describes remaining curtain length that “shall overrun” the sides to cover them.
