   The singular absolute noun occurs for what is given or held by a group. In Exodus 6:8 the APB renders the land as given to Israel “as a possession”; in Deuteronomy 33:4 it renders the law as belonging to the assembly of Jacob; and in Ezekiel 25:4, Ezekiel 25:10, Ezekiel 36:3, and Ezekiel 36:5 it describes peoples, territory, or land made over to others as property.

In the Anselm Project Bible: Across these verses, the APB commonly uses “possession” or “as a possession” for the relevant clauses. In Ezekiel 33:24 it also says that Abraham “took possession” of the land, so that wording should not be treated as a separate rendering of the noun.
