cha.rar describes scorching or burning by heat, of materials, bodies, and imagery of kindled strife.

The attested use describes the effects of intense heat or fire: wood, bones, bronze, people, and the speaker’s appearance are presented as scorched or burned. The same burning imagery also occurs in the clause about kindling strife.

1. Scorched or burned by heat · dominant

   In Ezekiel 15:4 and Ezekiel 15:5, the Niphal forms occur after fire has consumed a piece of wood and its middle is presented as scorched. Ezekiel 24:10 and Ezekiel 24:11 place the forms in fire-and-heating actions involving bones and bronze; Isaiah 24:6 presents earth’s inhabitants as scorched, while Song of Songs 1:6 attributes a blackish appearance to the sun’s scorching.

In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB explicitly uses “scorched” in Ezekiel 15:4, Ezekiel 15:5, Ezekiel 24:10, Isaiah 24:6, Job 30:30, and Song of Songs 1:6. Elsewhere it presents the surrounding imagery as “kindling strife” in Proverbs 26:21, “blow fiercely” in Jeremiah 6:29, and “withers” in Psalm 102:4, and Psalm 69:4 does not clearly isolate the term’s contribution.
