Jared

Jared in the Bible is a biblical person first named as Mahalalel’s son and later named as Enoch’s father (Genesis 5:15; Genesis 5:18). Genesis says that Mahalalel begot Jared, and that Jared begot Enoch; both passages also mention additional sons and daughters after those births (Genesis 5:16; Genesis 5:19). The text says that Jared died (Genesis 5:20).

Jared is named in at least 7 verses across Genesis and 1 Chronicles. A genealogical list includes Mahalalel and Jared (1 Chronicles 1:2), while another passage names Jared as the father of Gedor (1 Chronicles 4:18).
