Enoch

People also: Enoch

Enoch is named as Jared’s son and Methuselah’s father, and later passages describe his transport and prophecy.

Enoch in the Bible is the biblical person whom Genesis names as Jared’s son. Genesis 5:18 says Jared begot Enoch, and Genesis 5:21 says Enoch begot Methuselah. A genealogy also places Enoch between Methuselah and Mahalalel (Luke 3:37).

Hebrews says that Enoch was transported so that he would not see death, that he was not found because God had transported him, and that he had been testified to have pleased God (Hebrews 11:5). Jude calls him the seventh from Adam and records a prophecy beginning, “Behold, the Lord came with his holy myriads” (Jude 1:14).
