The attested forms chiefly mark time as a period or occasion: latter times, the time of kings, a father's time, old times, and recurring observance. In three Daniel visions, the plural also occurs in the designation rendered “Ancient of Days.”

Plural forms mark extended or referenced periods: in Daniel 2:28 the APB renders “the latter days,” in Daniel 2:44 “the days of those kings,” and in Ezra 4:15 “days of old.” The same temporal use includes Daniel's petition “three times a day” in Daniel 6:13 and provision made “day by day” in Ezra 6:9.

In Daniel 7:9, Daniel 7:13, and Daniel 7:22, plural forms occur in the designation that the APB renders “Ancient of Days.” Daniel 7:13 places this figure before the arriving one like a son of man, while Daniel 7:22 says that this figure arrived and judgment was given to the holy ones.
In the Anselm Project Bible: The APB presents the forms with temporal expressions such as “the latter days,” “days of those kings,” “days of old,” “third day,” and “day by day,” and with the designation “Ancient of Days.” These renderings show the clauses' temporal framing rather than a fixed English equivalent for every form.
