   The singular form names what God rejects in Luke 16:15, where what is exalted among people is set against God’s knowledge of hearts; in Mark 13:14 and Matthew 24:15 it identifies a specified thing standing where it ought not or in the holy place. The plural form occurs in Revelation 17:4 within the woman’s cup and in Revelation 17:5 in her title, while Revelation 21:27 places the singular alongside falsehood and excludes anyone practicing it from entering the city. In Luke 16:15 the APB renders the clause “what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.”
