A tanner in Joppa whose house hosted Simon Peter in Acts.
Simon the Tanner is a tanner in Joppa who hosted Simon Peter for many days (Acts 9:43). His house is described as being by the sea (Acts 10:6). In Acts 10:17, men sent by Cornelius, having inquired for Simon’s home, stand at the gate. An instruction in Acts 10:32 calls Simon Peter from the house of Simon the Tanner beside the sea. The name occurs in at least 5 verses in Acts.
