Eliashib

Eliashib is the high priest in Nehemiah who, with his fellow priests, built and consecrated the Gate of the Flock (Nehemiah 3:1). He is named in at least 9 verses, all in Nehemiah. Repair work reached the entrance and end of his house (Nehemiah 3:20; Nehemiah 3:21).

Eliashib is called a priest appointed over a chamber in the house of God near Tobijah; Nehemiah later describes a chamber made for Tobiah in its courts (Nehemiah 13:4; Nehemiah 13:7). He fathered Joiada, and Johanan is named as his son (Nehemiah 12:10; Nehemiah 12:23).
